Policies & Commitment

Tuition & Payment

Boston’s Future Leaders program tuition costs $5,500. Payment in full to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce is due upon acceptance into the program (within 30 days of receipt of invoice) either by the participant or the participant’s company. If the participant’s company is paying for tuition, the participant is responsible for submitting the invoice to the appropriate person within their company.

Attendance

Participation in this program requires attendance at all sessions. The Chamber understands that occasionally work and personal conflicts may prevent attendance, and for this reason, the schedule and session dates are included on the application website for maximum preparation and planning. The participant is responsible for attending a minimum of eight sessions (out of eleven total) in order to graduate from the program.

Attendance at 100% of Harvard sessions (three total days) is required to earn a Harvard Business School certificate.

Drop Deadline/Cancellation

The Chamber understands that occasionally circumstances require that participants drop the program or cancel their participation. If a participant needs to drop the program, requests must be made in writing to the Director of Learning & Development by April 1, 2024. All requests received by April 1 will be refunded 100%  If the participant has not attended any sessions. If the participant has attended some sessions, the refund will be prorated. Any requests received after April 1 will NOT be refunded as the Chamber pays its delivery partners up front and incurs costs for the entirety of the program upon its start.

If tuition payment is not received by the Chamber for a participant within 30 days of invoice receipt, they will be dropped from the program.

Psychological Safety

In our programs, the Chamber supports your learning and development through thoughtfully created curricula, and we welcome everyone’s comments and questions no matter how big or small. Please remember that we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. Keep an open mind and be curious. Take ownership of your own thoughts, through using “I” statements, and don’t assume that others will have the same perspectivesThe Chamber does not tolerate confrontational behavior or hate speech, defined as any kind of communication that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender or other identity factor. Our facilitators and Chamber staff are happy to support you if you need personalized help with exploring some of these topics or expressing your opinion respectfully. We invite you to support your growth and the growth of everyone here.

Company Change or Employee Transition

The Chamber recognizes that emerging leaders make changes in their careers and may transition from one company to another during the middle of the Boston’s Future Leaders program. The participant remains responsible for ensuring tuition payment either by self or initial employer, and the Chamber is not responsible for reimbursing the initial employer if participant leaves employment during the program. The participant is required to update the Chamber staff as soon as a company change is made.

If a company has not paid for a prior participant’s tuition, the company is not eligible to send any participants to future programs until the balance is paid in full, regardless of whether the past participant is still employed at the company.

COVID-19

The Department of Health and Human Services lifted the Presidential Declaration of a National Public Health Emergency arising from the COVID-19 pandemic on May 11, 2023. Therefore, COVID-19 will no longer be considered a national health emergency. The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor trends and act accordingly based on Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance.

Your health and safety remain our top priority while attending programs, events, and meetings. COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters are strongly recommended. The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce still follows exposure guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Our sessions are mask-friendly environments.

If you fall ill or learn of an exposure before an in-person session, whether with COVID-19 symptoms or other viruses, please stay home, let us know as soon as possible, and contact your healthcare provider.

Program Wait List

The popularity of the Boston’s Future Leaders program often results in a wait list for potential candidates. Those on the wait list may be notified up to one month into the program if their acceptance can be accommodated. The Chamber recognizes that missing any sessions may not be desirable for all participants, but will offer program seats if any become available.
